G-Men

It may have been ugly but a win is a win. I'll take them anyway they come. The bottom line is the Giants are 5-1 and have a firm hold on 1st place in the NFC East. Tough loss for the Jets, that was one they could of should of had. Another weekend has come and gone, and now it's time to get ready for the grind of Monday - Friday.

Halloween and Global Warming.

Wow it's October 18th already and I went to the first kids Halloween party of the season today. 2 Things I observed... 1. Kids being kids can really help put a smile on your face. 2. Global warming is a farce! It was like 42 degrees outside today and I was freezing my butt off! If this global WARMING thing continues I may have to move to Florida with my brother. But seriously, It was pretty cold today considering it's only mid October. Party was fun, knowing my kids were going to be exhausted by the time we got home was even better.

All I can say to Apple is WTF?

Knowing that Apple was going to refresh their laptop line today I was pretty excited and could hardly wait until 1:00 est for the announcements. After all is said and done I am left scratching my head and asking.. Seriously Apple WTF? Like most Apple devotes I was hoping for something revolutionary like maybe a 9-12" touch screen tablet of some sort, but if not that I was expecting a recession friendly $800-$900 MacBook, with a new look and maybe a new feature or two. What we ended up getting was a more expensive MacBook missing a KEY feature... Firewire! No Firewire port? How can I target disk mode? How can I import video from my Camcorder? I don't get it! Yes the new MacBooks look fantastic (we'll set aside the Glossy only screen for now). But looks only go so far. A better video board yes, a new multi touch track pad yes, but those were just necessary improvements to keep Apple laptops from looking long in the tooth. Not that I was in the market for a MacBook, but I know a lot of people who are / were I think now I might just recommend a nice refurbed white MacBook for $300 less. Apple seriously what were you thinking? Those specs at that price point? No thanks I'll pass along with a lot of other people.

Gregersen Games curse!

How can I not have won a single game at the Gregersen Games? Two games of Basketball and then two games of flag football and I get Zero wins... WTF? Oh well there is always next year right. I really feel bad for my friend Nate. Game 1 of B-Ball and I elbow him hard coming down for a rebound! Gash 5 stitches needed. Luckily St. Peters Hospital was right there. Sorry Nate.
Tomorrow is Pumpkin Picking family fun. Then maybe some more sporting events.

TGIF

It's Friday again, woo hoo! Short week thanks to the holiday yesterday. I think I will entertain myself today by watching the stock market drop as quickly as my respect for the media. We are on the verge of the 2nd great depression. Maybe this will help us find out who our true allies are. Maybe we can ask for some of the $$$$$ back that we have been handing out all around the world for years and years now. I won't hold my breath.

Tuesday Already?

Wow where does the time go? Super busy weekend, brother in town from Florida starting Friday evening, family wedding on Saturday, hosted Giants game on Sunday, and then there was no time to recover. Back to work Monday AM, and ANOTHER wireless vendor meeting. Now it's already Tuesday. But on the bright side Friday will be here soon enough. In the mood to be super productive today, so hopefully I'll get to scratch some things off my to-do list.

TGIF

It is Friday right? My wireless Vendor canceled his visit today so I actually have no meetings Woo Hoo! Now I have time to do other things like RADIUS, and iCal. Oh the joy. My brother is flying in from Florida today for a family wedding tomorrow. Did someone say open bar? : )

Another day another Wireless Vendor!

Today I have to meet with not one but two wireless vendors. We are looking to install an extensive centrally managed 802.11n wireless network, and I think we are looking at almost every vendor on the planet. Hopefully one of them will be the right fit.

Cool iPhone / iPod Touch Apps

Here are a few apps I have recently started using and think are pretty cool.

1.Pingamajig - This app lets you keep quick tabs on what devices are up or down. Use IP or DNS to add new devices. Must have for any network admin.

2. LDAPeople - This app allows you to connect to and access corporate LDAP servers. Great for looking up peoples information, and allows one click e-mail or phone call from a contacts page.
